2010 APA Conference

The 118th Annual APA Convention is almost upon us! This year it will be held in San Diego, California, from August 12-15, 2010. It will definitely be an exciting and informative event, and we hope to see many of you there. To a view a flyer for the conference, click here. Below are some highlights for this year:
 
On Thursday, August 12th we will have our Section 10 Board Meeting at 4pm in the Division 12 Hospitality suite.   
 
Thursday, August 12th from 6:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m. we will have our section’s “Meet and Greet.” During this social we would like to encourage mentors and mentees to attend, in addition to all section members.
 
For our Section 10 Programming we will have two exciting seminars offered during the conference:

For the first talk “Applying for your postdoctoral fellowship” our speakers include two of our exceptional former Section 10 presidents; Drs. George Slavich, UCLA/UCSF and Chris Cutter, Yale. For those of you who are new to the Section, George founded Section 10 and Chris was our president for the most recent 2008-2009 term. Both former presidents have been invaluable to our Section, and are still actively participating, which demonstrates the strength and continued growth of our section. Their talk will be highly informative and dynamic, as they are both wellsprings of current knowledge in this domain.

Our second talk “Applying for your clinical research grant” will include two excellent speakers, Dr. Vanessa Malcarne from San Diego State University and the UCSD Moores Cancer Center, as well as Dr. Niloo Afari from UCSD and the VA San Diego. They are both seasoned in obtaining grant funding and will be able to provide our members with an informative and lively discussion on how to obtain various grants. We look forward to your participation at both talks.

2010 Early Career in Clinical Psychology Award:
 
Section 10 congratulates Daniel Hurley for his excellence in research, and his poster entitled "Enhancing Positive Outcomes Through Increasing Savoring the Moment." Please join us in celebrating his success at the Division 12 and Section Award Ceremony on Friday at 5:00-5:50 pm in Marriott Salon 3. He will be presenting his poster at the Division 12 Social Hour and Section Showcase from 6:00-7;00 pm also in the Marriott Salon 3. We look forward to seeing you there!
